Kathryn Holter - About the Artist

In the style of the masters, it is a passion of mine to create realistic images that tell a story.  Among others, Johannes Vermeer's (1632 - 1675) work, his realistic imagery, the story his paintings tell, and his mastery of light and shadow are inspiring.

The unique essence every individual has is what I want to preserve on canvas.  To see that certain look in their eyes, their regal bearing, the determination they exude, or simply the beauty within captured forever, brings me joy and personal satisfaction.  It is a work of art which can be cherished and passed down through generations.

Originally from Michigan, Kathryn relocated to south Texas over 35 years ago.  After raising a family, she and her husband retired and lived in Costa Rica for four years.  With the decision made to return to the States, they settled just outside of Austin in Bastrop, Texas.
